Dissolve Interim NDDC committee, allows new board assume office - Eshanekpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro tells Buhari.

The leadership of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A through its National President, Eshanekpe Israel, a.k.a, Akpodoro, has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to dissolve the Interim Committee set up by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, purportedly to midwife the operations of the Forensic Auditors put in place by the nation’s head to audit the activities of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC since inception.

The Coalition made this call in Abuja, Thursday at the wake of a well attended meeting of critical stakeholders in the Niger Delta project as it warned the Buhari’s administration to avoid the temptations of unconstitutional ism in its duties to the Nigerian people calling on him to warn Mr Akpabio as head of the supervisory ministry in charge of NDDC noting that the group he so appointed has no powers whatsoever in the Act establishing the regional intervention agency.

The group warned the former governor of Akwa Ibom state of the inherent dangers of impunity and official recklessness in the handling of the NDDC saying nobody was more Niger deltan than the other as it questioned the rationale behind the continued stay of the 3-man Committee in office after the federal government had appointed a new board duly screened and confirmed by the Senate to discharge their duties accordingly.

Akpodoro noted that although, Akpabio may have established the Committee with good intentions and motives but added that it was time for the President to disband the Committee and allow for the new board to take over as instructed by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawal, shortly after the confirmation of Pius Odubu, Bernard Okumagba as Chairman and Managing director respectively amongst others to take over the management of the Commission as provided for in the constitution.

The urhobo-born ex-militant leader warned the Buhari administration not to take the people of the region for granted stressing that what matters most to the people was the growth and development of the region devoid of political intrigues and manipulations embedded in suspicious shenanigans capable of stoking crisis in the delta.

The forensic auditors, the group added will work harmoniously with the new board for a thorough service delivery saying an interim Committee was most unnecessary at this stage of developments in NDDC.

The former warlord called on his teaming followers and other well meaning Niger deltans to stay calm and support the most visionary leadership of the NDDC since the creation of the regional agency as he urged them to dissociate themselves from vulnerable youth who he noted were being used by vested interests in the region to issue what he described as  incessant bare footed threats against the federal government for selfish reasons.
